Revised 7-Night Okinawa Itinerary

Day 1: Dec 21 – Arrival & The Deep South

  • 8:00 AM: Seven guests arrive at Naha Airport via Scoot.
  • The English-speaking guide and private minibus driver will meet this arriving group at the airport.
  • The driver will then proceed to Naha city to pick up the remaining 2 or 3 guests who are already in town.
  • Morning: Head south to Cape Chinen Park for a panoramic ocean view with no strenuous walking.
  • Lunch: Fresh local seafood at a coastal market.
  • Afternoon: Valley of Gangala tour. This is a mild 1.5-hour walk through a lush gorge and ancient cave systems, which is very easy on the knees.
  • Stay: Ryukyu Onsen Senagajima Hotel in South Okinawa, which features a beautiful ocean-view hot spring.

Day 2: Dec 22 – Southern Culture & Coastal Walks

  • Morning: The group will split for morning activities, using the same bus as the locations are within 15 minutes of each other.
  • Option A: Sefa-Utaki, featuring a mildly inclined but well-paved walking path through lush jungle and massive rock formations.
  • Option B: Okinawa World, for those who wish to explore the park independently.
  • Lunch: Tomari Iyumachi Fish Market in Naha.
  • Afternoon: Visit Shuri Castle to explore the historic grounds, followed by a slow, downhill stroll along the old stone-paved paths of the adjacent Kinjo-cho neighborhood.
  • Dinner: Naha City center around the Kokusai Dori area.
  • Stay: Ryukyu Onsen Senagajima Hotel in South Okinawa.

Day 3: Dec 23 – Heading Central & Kouri Island

  • Morning: Drive to Central Okinawa to visit Cape Zanpa, featuring beautiful coastal cliffs and a classic, highly accessible lighthouse.
  • Lunch: Awase Fish Market in Okinawa City, famous for baked sea urchin lobster.
  • Afternoon: Drive across the bridge to Kouri Island. We will take a scenic drive around the island to visit the famous Heart Rocks at Teinu Beach, followed by a visit to the Ocean Tower for panoramic views.
  • Stay: Lequ Okinawa Chatan Spa & Resort in Central Okinawa, featuring rooftop hot springs.

Day 4: Dec 24 – Central Canyons & Bios Hill

  • Morning: Visit Bios no Oka (Bios Hill), a subtropical forest park. Guests can take a gentle boat ride and enjoy mild, flat nature walks.
  • Afternoon: Coastal walking around the Maeda Point area. This is the home of the Blue

Cave, so guests who are interested can book a snorkeling excursion (wetsuits strongly recommended in December!). – Extra charge applies

  • Dinner: A cozy local Izakaya in Chatan.
  • Stay: Lequ Okinawa Chatan Spa & Resort in Central Okinawa.

Day 5: Dec 25 – The Northern Karst Formations

  • Morning: The whole group will enjoy a guided walk at Daisekirinzan in the far north. This area offers incredible karst rock formations with completely flat, accessible boardwalks overlooking the ocean.
  • Afternoon: The group heads to Cape Hedo, the northernmost tip of the island, for dramatic cliff views.
  • Stay: Hotel Orion Motobu Resort & Spa in North Okinawa, featuring the gorgeous “Chura-yu” natural hot spring.

Day 6: Dec 26 – Into the Yanbaru Forest

  • Morning: Drive north into the Yanbaru National Park region.
  • Hike: Hiji Falls. This is a moderate 2-hour round trip hike on a highly maintained path with wooden stairs and bridges. Those with severe knee pain can take it very slowly or relax at the trailhead cafe.
  • Afternoon Logistics: The minibus will drive down to Naha to drop off the guest who is flying out on the 27th. The rest of the group will head back to the hotel to relax.
  • Stay: Hotel Orion Motobu Resort & Spa (Main Group). (Naha for the departing guest ).

Day 7: Dec 27 – Leisurely Return South

  • Morning: Take a leisurely walk directly from Hotel Orion Motobu to visit the Churaumi Aquarium.
  • Mid-Day Activity Split: The group will split for activities within 15 minutes of each other.
  • Option A: Nago Pineapple Park.
  • Option B: Visit a nearby local pottery or craft village for those not keen on the Pineapple Park.
  • Afternoon: Head back down the coast with a stop at any local pottery villages or coastal cafes you prefer.
  • Evening: Head back to Naha.
  • Stay: Okinawa Hinode Resort & Hot Springs in Naha, conveniently located near the monorail station.

Day 8: Dec 28 – Departure

  • Morning: Self transfer – As you will be staying at the Okinawa Hinode Resort in Naha near the station, it will be much more cost-effective for you to take the train or taxis to the airport. We can of course arrange transport again if you prefer.
