Day 2 – Okinawa Adventure: Shuri Castle & Shisa Pottery Class

Day 2 of a 5 Day Tour

The second day started with Qi Gong by the pool and then we transported the guests to Shuri Castle. The castle served as the heart of the Ryukyu Kingdom for centuries, blending Chinese and Japanese styles into a unique Okinawan icon. Unfortunately a fire caused extensive damage in 2019, but as of 2025 the main hall has been painstakingly restored with full completion expected in 2026.

After Shuri Castle, we took the guests to a local pottery class in the heart of the Tsuboya Pottery district of Naha. Tsuboya is the historic heart of Okinawan ceramics, where winding stone paths lead you through a charming neighborhood of traditional kilns, hidden workshops, and shops selling iconic “Yachimun” pottery. They made traditional Okinawa “Shisa” and we organized for them to be shipped home once kiln dried.
